Transparently calculated
Method behind the financial buffer calculator
How monthly headroom, savings rate and the calculated reach of your reserves are determined in the financial check.
Inputs
What goes into the calculation.
- net household income
- total monthly spending
- reserves available at short notice
Calculation
How the model works.
01
Step 1
Monthly headroom = income minus total spending.
02
Step 2
Savings rate = positive headroom divided by income.
03
Step 3
Reserve reach = available reserves divided by monthly spending.
With a net household income of €3,800, spending of €2,800 and reserves of €9,000, the model shows €1,000 of monthly headroom and around 3.2 months of spending covered.
